Abstract


The field of science studies is able to build and develop students' understanding of the variation and spatial organization of society, place and environment on the face of the earth. Students are encouraged to understand the physical aspects and processes that shape, the pattern of the earth's surface, the characteristics and spatial distribution of ecology on the surface of the earth. In addition, students are actively and creatively motivated to examine that culture and experience influence human perceptions of place and region. The absence of laboratory equipment and materials is often an obstacle to not doing lab work, even though the teacher is able to have practical instructions. Therefore, the creativity of science teachers is very much needed in finding alternative materials and other tools that can be used so that practicums can still be implemented. Thus, practicum does not depend on laboratory facilities in the school, but it is enough to use materials and tools that are easily found in daily life. The practicum method is highly recommended in science learning, because it is in accordance with educational goals which includes 3 aspects, namely developing knowledge, instilling scientific attitudes, and practicing skills. Through practicum students gain a deep understanding of a concept, because they do and see for themselves.
