Abstract


This research is motivated by the low character of elementary school students. Students are still indifferent to the social environment. Students are still dependent on communication tools, so that it can hinder the development of student learning. Students have obstacles to develop good character and prepare for the globalization and competitive era. For this reason the teacher must have a specific strategy. To prepare for this, the teacher needs to instill a work ethic. Work ethic is very necessary in achieving a goal. Work ethic includes a set of positive behaviors rooted in fundamental beliefs accompanied by total commitment to an integral work paradigm. Elementary teachers are the spearhead of the success of an education in the classroom. Without a work ethic, educational attainment is very difficult to achieve. One of the fundamental educational achievements is character education. Character education is believed to be an education that is very important for the success of students in the future. This study aims to describe the role of work ethics in achieving character success in elementary school teachers. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative method. Questionnaires were given to 20 elementary school teachers. The results of the study show that the majority of teachers are proud of the important role of work ethics in building student character education. Suggestions are given, so that teachers can improve their performance and work ethic, as well as role models for elementary students in educating the character of elementary school students.
